A first-floor maisonette in SE5 with engineered oak throughout. The floor had been down about eight years, the finish had worn off in the main traffic areas, and the client wanted a refresh rather than a full replacement. Engineered floors can usually take one or two sandings depending on the wear layer — this one had plenty left.
We sanded back to bare wood, applied an oil finish, and buffed to a low-sheen result that suits the property. Booking deposit was taken on survey and the job ran over one day.
Camberwell has a mix of Victorian terraces and 1930s conversions, most with timber subfloors and a good proportion of original or upgraded hardwood on top. We cover SE5 as part of our regular South London schedule alongside Peckham (SE15), Brixton (SW9) and Kennington (SE11).
Oil finishes suit a lot of the floors we work on in Camberwell. They are easier to spot-repair between full sandings and give a more natural look than lacquer. We carry Bona and Rubio products and can advise on which finish suits your floor at the survey stage.
